In the Orchard

Top - Primark (a long time ago)
Belt - Belonged to my mum
Dress - Silence & noise from a charity shop
Tights - Topshop
Shoes - Charity shop

These photos are from a recent mid-week trip to Standen, another National Trust property, and one of my favourites.  It's been nearly a year since my last visit, which was the subject of one of my first ever blog posts. Standen is a lovely house, decorated during the arts and crafts movement, with many William Morris interiors. You can't take pictures inside the house, so we made do with various areas of the gardens. There's something about apples fallen from the tree that makes me feel very autumnal. The orchard was full of them, as well as the funny 'bees at work' signs all over the place. The picture of me between two posts is a sort of childrens area with a stage and a giant xylophone. I love the bench in the last photo, how nature is trying to claim it back. I'll be posting later in the week with some new things to tell you about.

  1. I don't know whether to love or hate the posts when you go around National Trust homes. For one thing, my Go-To list for April and May 2011 is getting longer and longer. But then again, I get so excited about it and jealous that I'm not there NOW. :))

I like William Morris prints, and I'm in the process of reading his fairy tales and fantasy stories that were precursors to Tolkien and Lewis. As usual, great oufit, Rebecca! I dig your tights.

  2. these photos are lovely! what a great location. i can't wait to go apple picking this year (i'm trying to resist a trip to the orchard until closer to thanksgiving, since the apples have to last long enough to make pie out of)! soon, soon.

also, the golden notebook may be thick but it goes quickly! i've read 300 pages in the past couple of days. i find that getting a small paperback version of these enormous tomes helps ease the intimidation :)

  3. I love the colors you paired together in this outfit! And the pictures of the orchard are amazing. Apples from orchards are the best, way better than from the grocery store.

  4. Such pretty autumnal photographs! That dress was a great find and your shoes are super too - you have some serious charity shopping skills!

Scandalously, I have never actually been to a National Trust property before, although I've always meant to. Maybe this year!
