More trip photos. There aren't many more, promise! These were taken in Tintagel in Cornwall. Tintagel has a ruined castle, associations with Merlin and knithgts of the round table, caves and rugged caostline. Also finding an ice-cream van on the walk back into the town I had lavender and honey ice cream cone, delicious. After looking at the castle we looked at the old (National Trust) post office in town, where I learn the origin of the phrase being left 'on the shelf'. In the old post office there was a sleeping shelf, where girls and unmarried women slept to keep them away from the men. So you were left on the shelf until you were married. The final photo is from Dartmoor, near the Dewstone. Cornwall is such a beautiful place.
These pictures are some of the best I've seen, they're amazing!! And your outfit is lovely too.

I love your seaside outfit—blue! stripes! I have wanted to go to Tintagel after reading about it in a Barbara Michaels novel. Arthurian adventures ahoy!
ReplyDeleteJust wondering, is it difficult to get to and around Cornwall without a car? I'm going to the UK on hols next year and I wanted to spend a bit of time outside the cities.

Thanks for your comments everyone.
ReplyDeleteA- Well I would say you should be fine. England generally has pretty decent bus and train links. A car makes things easier but I don't think it would be a problem. Do you know where abouts you'll be going?
I thought I recognised the name Tintagel' and then I remembered about the Merlin association. I loved reading Mary Stewart's Merlin books when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a truly lovely place – timewarped in all the right ways! Also, I do like your skirt...
