Autumn is everything

Jacket - my mothers from the 1970s
Shirt - 1970s vintage , jumble sale,
Jeans - H&M
Bag - American eagle (gift)
Boots - vintage, jumble sale

Autumn is the best season. Halloween and the annual watching of hocus pocus (best Halloween film ever), fancy dress and pumpkin flavoured goods. Bonfire night, mulled wine and free fireworks. The colours, the weather, the getting out of the cold weather wardrobe. All good things. Especially since this is the first year in a long long time we have had a real summer. I mean it was 32 degrees, that never happens. And it's still not really cold. Hence the above outfit being acceptable in the third week of October. I've had this jacket of my mum's for a while. It's a perfect fit but needed a repair which I put off too long. Happily it is now fixed. These boots are doubly old, I bought them approximately 4 years ago at a jumble  and the have now given up and fallen apart. An excuse for new shoes? The blouse is new to me, I found it at a jumble sale a week earlier. The label says Pepperhill California. I hope it belonged to a true Californian Hippy. At the same jumble I found some simialr items, I hope they all came form the same well dressed woman.
There is no single reason for my not blogging through 2013 so far. I've moved jobs, but that's about it as far as big changes go. I've noticed lots of blogs I have followed posting less, maybe it's just the Autumn of style blogging? I guess we shall see.

That 70s top

Sunshine, blossom trees, flowers, summer clothes!

Yes I am happy Spring is finally showing itself around here. I think this is the first weekend I've ventured out without a cardigan for many months. I do wear a lot of cardigans though. I've had a very soothing weekend basking in the sunlight. Today was very lazy and we just wandered around town, had some pretty good lunch and lay in the park reading. My kind of Sunday. Although I meant to do some sewing/altering which I haven't quite managed. It's good to finally be able to wear this very 70s top. I found it maybe a year or two ago in a Devon charity shop. It has a matching high waisted maxi skirt with embroidery around the hem, however the waist is about 23 inches and so no good for me. One of these days I may make it a knee length skirt by taking the waist down but I have more pressing alterations before then. I am fond of the colour and the giant sleeves but I am quite uncomfortable in anything cropped so I had to wait until I found some high waisted jeans. Luckily my mother obliged by giving me an old pair of hers, I just took in the legs and now I have perfect high waisted jeans. I also think it's funny these are actual 'mom jeans'. I think I should probably have worn my clogs too, just to get a more 70s vibe altogether. Happy Spring everyone!

To the lighthouse

Hat - Jersey charity shop
Dress - Camden market last year
Shoes - H&M
Bag - Army surplus store, years ago

~ Listening to 2 Trees ~ Foals ~

So a little bit more of Jersey. Also I feel I must confess the shaming fact (for a bookworm) of having never read To the lighthouse. I once read about four pages and then somehow never picked it up again, does anyone recommend I give it another go? I got this dress a year ago in Camden Stables, it was a bargain but I've never worn it. I know peter pan collars are still going strong but I find the lacey one on this dress a bit twee against the red and that put me off. I think it was originally a maxi dress, since it has clearly been hemmer. However I do like the two florals in one dress and the piping, plus it was just right for this glorious sunshine. Which sadly there isn't meant to be much of this weekend. This could be a bit of a problem as I am camping from tomorrow until Monday. Oh well, wish me luck!
